"If you take the truth from the truth only the truth will remain"

lyrics

Well truth is a word that gets bandied around all the time
What’s good and what’s bad they ain’t nothing but partners in crime
But what is a lie? is it really not telling the truth?
Is it birth? Is it life? Is it death or the culture of youth?

Is truth in the passing of time – in the hours and the years?
Is it fear of the ending of days – of the silent frontiers?
Or could it be truth that we see in the stars every night?
I tell you Truth ain’t got nothing to do with what’s wrong and what’s right

Now truth never got in the way of the journalist's pen
And truth is a stranger to all those political men
Extremist religion has buried the truth in the ground
Whilst the man who knows truth sits quite still without making a sound

Some say there is truth in the new-born baby’s eyes
Others will tell you that truth is somewhere way up in the skies
You can’t pin it down – it’s notoriously hard to explain
If you take the truth from the truth only the truth will remain
